Whidbey Island Cider Festival

The Whidbey Island Cider Festival is the major fundraising event for the Pacific Rim Institute for Environmental Stewardship, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that focuses on ecological restoration and preservation, with an emphasis on Western Washington prairies.

Started in 2017, the Whidbey Island Cider Festival is the major fundraising event for Pacific Rim Institute, and a chance to share with the community the work that PRI does to preserve and restore the endangered westside prairie habitat and the species found therein. General admission to the event is free, and visitors are invited to; enjoy live music from The Shifty Sailors, A Fiddle in the Forest and more; browse through vendor booths; choose from a variety of local food trucks including Orland's Southern BBQ, The Wandering Asian fusion, and Whidbey Pies; visit PRI’s Native Plant Center or Prairie remnant; and more.

Adults, 21 and over, can also participate in tasting hard cider, mead, spirits, or other alcohol in the cider garden. From now until September 19th, $5 can be saved when purchasing a keepsake tasting glass with the Cider Festival logo and 6 tasting tokens, $35 at the door.

Pacific Rim Institute is a 501(c)3 nonprofit engaging science, culture, and community for ecological restoration. We focused on the endangered westside Washington prairie and the species found there-in, working with federal, state, local, tribal, and scientific organizations. PRI was part of the recovery efforts for the golden paintbrush (Castilleja levisecta) and is a part of the recovery efforts for the Taylor's checkerspot (Euphydryas editha taylori) butterfly, and provides seeds, bulbs, and other plant material produced at their Native Plant Center, for restoration efforts around the Salish Sea.

Pacific Rim Institute welcomes pets that are leashed and cleaned up after, and is a smoke-free site.
